The inspiration behind our work

The main inspiration for the Hospice was, of course, Maggie and her kindness and gentle nature.
However, I have known, loved and lost many animal friends and they have all inspired me in their own ways.

Maggie, my soul-mate

Originally rescued from a breeder, Maggie quickly became my soul-mate.
Maggie truly was – is – the most special soul I have ever met and I am honoured to be her friend.

On the 24th October 2015, my beloved friend Maggie died after a short illness, in very tragic circumstances.

On the way to say goodbye to Maggie, as my dad drove and my mum and I held hands, crying, still in shock and overcome and numbed by grief, I turned to mum and said, “The Maggie Fleming Animal Hospice”.
She nodded, and smiled.
I vowed then to do this in her honour, in her name, to provide a safe place for abandoned animals who otherwise would have no where to go to spend their final days.
